Seminar on: "Contemporary Agricultural Situation in India- Problems, Solutions - Agricultural Economic Analysis"

A seminar on the topic "Contemporary Agricultural Situation in India- Problems, Solutions - Agricultural Economic Analysis" was held at Neelam Rajasekhar Reddy Study Centre on 29th September. In the conference chaired by Dr. T. Suresh Babu, Director, NRR Centre , agricultural economists, farmers' association leaders, women, youth, intellectuals participated in a large number.

In his initial discussion, famous agriculturist, Professor Narasimhareddy garu has explained in detail the reasons behind the food problem in the country and the plight of farmers. 85% of small farmers and agricultural labourers said that the majority of the country is between rich and middle class farmers. It is said that the reason for the suicides of the farmer today is the lack of income for the crops grown by the farmer.

Renowned farmer leader Sarampalli Mallareddy garu addressing and demanded that loan, marketing, research policies be developed in favor of small farmers. At the same time, citing the heroic struggle across the country three years ago protesting corporate companies’ entry into agriculture, the farmer’s call for a united fight against corporations and on fair prices. The conference suggested that a memo be formed with some specific proposals and hand it over to the government.

Renowned Agricultural Scientist (ICAR) Dr. Sarath Babu addressing and explained how companies like Adani, Randev Baba Patanjali are cheating on tree genetic wealth in the country and not for the design of Vangadas in the country. Requested to protect the genetic wealth of the country tree.

Hyderabad University economist Professor Naresh Sharma speaking and said that the rural economy is collapsing as a result of the corporate pro policies the government is currently following and the development gaps between villages and towns have increased sharply.

Famous Biotechnology ICAR Scientist Dr. Somamarla's speech said that the allocations in the central budget to 60% of the rural population in the country are very low and they are gradually decreasing. He demanded that the land reform that gives him land should be honestly implemented and the investment in rural areas should be increased. Similarly, Vari, Prathi stating that the current crop cultivation methods are causing environmental crisis. They demanded to implement a policy of cultivating papu cereals, oil seeds, cheetah crops that consume less water and investments in their place.

Several farmer leaders and young farmers participated and expressed their views in the post-lunch discussion. Farmer's laborers association leader Mrs. Jhansi garu while addressing, he said that the reason for the current rural plight is due to the land corporate democratic policies by the rulers. Agricultural scientists and intellectuals asked to study this crisis deeper and suggest solutions.

Retirement agriculturist Dr. Aribandi Prasadrao garu, co-operative agricultural societies movement leader Mr. Nainani Govardhan garu, Kisan Sabha leader Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy, Comrade Prabhu Lingam garu and others have given a speech.

The conference ended with the salutation submission of Dr. Suresh Babu garu, Director of Rajasekhar Reddy Research Centre.
